What is Perfect Sunset School?
Perfect Sunset School is a community-based language and surf school located in Playa Hermosa, Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. We offer immersive weekly programs that combine Spanish lessons, surf lessons, yoga, and accommodation in a relaxed beach environment.
Our programs are designed for travelers who want to learn, surf, and connect with people from around the world.
Is this a hotel?
No. Perfect Sunset School is not a traditional hotel.
We offer structured programs that include accommodation, classes, and community experiences. Most of our guests are students participating in our Spanish, surf, or yoga programs.
Where are you located?
We are located in Playa Hermosa, Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, just a short walk from one of the best surf beaches in the area.
The beach is approximately 200 meters from the school.

What programs do you offer?
We currently offer:

Programs typically run on a weekly structure.
How long are the programs?
Most programs run for one week, but guests can stay for multiple weeks.
Arrival is usually Saturday or Sunday, with classes running Monday to Thursday.
What is included in the Spanish & Surf program?
The Spanish & Surf program includes:
- 7 nights accommodation
- Spanish lessons (Monday–Thursday)
- Surf lessons (Monday–Thursday)
- Breakfast Monday to Saturday
- Dinner Monday to Friday
- Free use of surfboards outside lessons
- Small class groups
- WiFi and common areas
Do I need previous surfing experience?
No.
Our surf lessons are suitable for complete beginners as well as intermediate surfers.
Our instructors adapt lessons based on your experience level.
What is the maximum class size?
We keep classes small to ensure quality instruction.
Spanish classes:
typically 4–5 students per group
Surf lessons:
maximum 4 students per instructor
Accommodation
What types of rooms are available?
We offer two accommodation options:
Shared room
Shared with other students participating in the program.
Private room
Private accommodation for guests who prefer more privacy.
Are meals included?
Yes.
Your program includes:
Breakfast
Monday to Saturday
Dinner
Monday to Friday
Lunch is not included, but guests can use our fully equipped kitchen.
Vegetarian and vegan dinner options are available.
Is there a supermarket nearby?
Yes.
The nearest supermarket is located about 50 meters from the school, within walking distance.
Booking & Payment
How do I make a reservation?
To reserve your spot, contact us to check availability. Once availability is confirmed, we will send you a secure booking link through our reservation system.
How much deposit is required?
A 50% deposit is required to confirm your reservation.
The remaining balance can be paid before arrival or upon arrival depending on the booking agreement.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payments are processed through our booking platform WeTravel, which accepts major credit and debit cards.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel more than 30 days before your arrival date, your booking is fully refundable.
If you cancel less than 30 days before arrival, the reservation is non-refundable.
Travel & Arrival
How do I get to Perfect Sunset School?
There are several ways to reach Santa Teresa:
Domestic flight from San José to Cobano Airport, followed by a short taxi ride.
Shared shuttle services from San José.
Public bus and ferry combination.
Our team can provide guidance once your reservation is confirmed.
What time is check-in?
Check-in is typically in the afternoon on the arrival day.
If you plan to arrive after 7:00 PM, please contact us in advance via WhatsApp.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing:
- light clothing
- sunscreen
- beachwear
- reusable water bottle
- comfortable sandals
- good vibes
For Spanish lessons, a notebook is usually enough.

Can I take additional lessons?
Yes.
Additional lessons can be arranged, including:
- extra Spanish classes
- additional surf lessons
- yoga sessions
These can be booked in advance or organized through our front desk during your stay.
What can I do on weekends?
Santa Teresa offers many activities during the weekend, including:
- visiting Montezuma waterfalls
- Cabo Blanco National Park
- boat trips and snorkeling
- ATV tours
- exploring nearby beaches
